BiographyRalph Van Sicklin, long time business owner of Vanís Katonah Servicecenter passed away at the age of 80 surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. Van was very involved with the Lions Club and served as President for a number of years; Van was the 2009 honoree for the Community Center of Northern Westchester where he was honored for leading the army of volunteers that transformed the dilapidated building into the current Community Center.
Van is survived by his wife Anne, his daughters Marianne Knight (Peter) of Oakville, Ontario and Deb Winter (John) of Katonah, sons John (Maria) of Pound Ridge, James (Amy) of Lynnfield, Mass and Thomas (Debra) of Castle Rock, Colorado and predeceased by his son Billy. Van was the much loved Grandpa / Poppy/ PaPa of Kristin, Liam, Megan, Caroline, Kathleen, John, Christine, Amy, Emily, Brian, Julia, Will and Michael. Van was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. Van loved life and enjoyed his travels to visit family and friends and hosting them for wonderful times at home in Vermont.
There will be no funeral; in lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Vanís name to the Community Center of Northern Westchester [84 Bedford Road; Katonah, New York 10536 www.communitycenternw.org ]
Van will be greatly missed by his loving family and his many friends.
